Hawker® Submarine Batteries
EnerSys® has been designing and manufacturing cutting-edge submarine batteries for well over a century. Today, Hawker® submarine VRLA (SVRLA) batteries are qualified for and actively used in all 4 classes of US Navy nuclear submarines.
A range of designs to power propulsion
Hawker submarine batteries span a wide range of tubular and flat plate cells that serve as both standby batteries in nuclear-powered submarines and as the main propulsion in diesel electric submarines. Our Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) batteries are sealed, maintenance-free and at the leading edge of energy storage technology. EnerSys pioneered this technology in partnership with the US Navy.
- Hawker SVRLA batteries use Proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology
- Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) Design
- US Navy “B Cell” and “C Cell” per MIL PRF 32273
- Qualified for use on all 4 classes of US Navy submarines
- Available for purchase to anyone (Subject to US Export Laws and Regulations)
